Sacramento, California

It was a group of seeking Christians meeting in a Bible study group that first began meeting as the church in Sacramento. In 1961 we were greatly helped by reading Brother Watchman Nee’s book, Concerning Our Mission, printed in England, now published in the U.S. as The Normal Christian Church Life.

Brother Witness Lee visited us during the Thanksgiving holiday in 1962. During the first meeting, Brother Lee was asked to explain the Scriptural ground of oneness of all Christians within each city. After a simple and clear illustration, all the brothers and sisters felt that as believers in Christ, we should be meeting to enjoy Christ and express the one Body of Christ in our city.

We saw the pattern of the New Testament from many verses such as:

“...the church which was in Jerusalem...” (Acts 8:1),

“...the church of God which is in Corinth...” (1 Corinthians 1:1), and

“...the church which is in Cenchrea...” (Romans 16:1).

As a result of this fellowship, we began to meet in oneness as the church in Sacramento. Meeting in oneness with all Christians brought in a richer and fuller enjoyment and experience of our dear Lord Jesus which we have continued to enjoy for almost forty years.

Under His sovereign grace we are now going on here, meeting weekly with those who “call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22). Moreover, with the spiritual supply we enjoy from the Living Stream Ministry, we are in sweet Christian fellowship with local churches all over the world.
